Unquestionably one of South Africa's finest and most popular bands, Watershed is due to release its highly anticipated 4th album, Staring at the Ceiling, in August. Following the hugely successful Mosaic, which was released in October 2005, the new album has been a long time coming. While three months short of three years is no small gap, Staring at the Ceiling will be well worth the wait. While it will undoubtedly still subscribe to Watershed's distinctive, organic sound introduced on In the Meantime (April 2000) and well established by Wrapped in Stone (September 2003), the band is seriously shooting for the stars this time around. Members of the eclectic 1990's rock outfit James had a hand in producing the record with the help of musicians who have worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse and George Michael, and ' in particular ' producer Elliot Kennedy, whose list of production credits reads like the Who's Who of the international music business ' including Take That, Bryan Adams and interestingly, the Spice Girls. Watershed has also been fortunate enough to work with renowned English producer Ali Thomson on some of the new tracks. Members of the eclectic 1990’s rock outfit James had a hand in producing the record with the help of musicians who have worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse and George Michael, and – in particular – producer Elliot Kennedy, whose list of production credits reads like the Who’s Who of the international music business – including Take That, Bryan Adams and interestingly, the Spice Girls. Watershed has also been fortunate enough to work with renowned English producer Ali Thomson on some of the new tracks.
Despite the occasional lapse, Staring at the Ceiling is just the MOR rock medicine to help you overcome your mid-life crisis.
