Modern Times
Artist(s): Bob Dylan
Was R159.95 Now R135.96
MODERN TIMES is Bob Dylan's first new album in five years.
His most recent studio albums, TIME OUT OF MIND and LOVE AND THEFT have been among his most commercially successful and critically lauded, each having sold more than a million copies in the U.S.
TIME OUT OF MIND won the 1998 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.
MODERN TIMES comes in the wake of heightened interest in Dylan, following the release of Martin Scorsese's documentary "No Direction Home".
The artist's 44th album features 10 new Bob Dylan songs recorded earlier in 2006 with Dylan on keyboards, guitars, harmonica and vocals, accompanied by his touring band.
Songs like "Thunder On The Mountain", "Spirit On The Water", "Workingman's Blues" and "When The Deal Goes Down" are commentaries on what Dylan sees going on around him.
But MODERN TIMES is not only social commentary as seen through Dylan's personal prism. The album also features several love songs including "Rollin' And Tumblin'" as well as songs that showcase Dylan's confidence as a songwriter, among them "Spirit On The Water".
As Columbia Records Chairman Steve Barnett has said: "Bob is that rare artist whose music defies all trends and resonates throughout all levels of our culture, and he continues to be as contemporary and relevant as any artist in music."
And for one of the world's most popular and acclaimed songwriters, musicians and performers, having sold nearly 100 million albums in a career spanning five decades, MODERN TIMES is nothing short of a masterpiece.
