I purchased this laptop last week, and it arrived within 4 working days. It's amazing... and thats all. For those who do not wish to hear me mutter on about it, here are the advantages and disadvantages in point form:
Advantages:
- Amazing size and weight
- Atom processor is faster than I anticipated
- Brilliant screen (LED backlight is fast and crisp) (low screen reflections)
- Windows XP is speedy on it!
- Good power settings (battery lasts +/- 4 to 5 hours with average usage)
- Games work on it too (Max Payne 1 on full spec) Booya!
- Built in microphone and mic.. now i can skype!
- Lenovo Quick Start is just too cool...
- Not a lot of unnecessary initial software
- RAM can be upgraded to 2 gigs (according to google search) and can be done by yourself. I'm yet to do mine.
- 160 Gig HDD. Need I say more for this small laptop? well, maybe later, but it can be changed easily like the ram.
- Built in Bluetooth.. now no more irritating dongle.
- Speaker quality is impressive for this size. No, Really!!!
Disadvantages:
- Takes a while to get used to the keyboard, but its fine once you do.
- 2 USB Ports. ( I Prefer 3 - mouse, flash disk, external HDD)
- 6 Cell Battery is cumbersome, but with up to 5 hours of usage... no need to complain.
- No S-video. (There's VGA Though:) )
- Right-shift key and TAB are annoying coz their small. I'm still getting used to it still.
- Some apps don't fit on this amazing screen (Bitdefender). One of the prices we pay for small screens.
That's all for now! For those looking to type, to email, to browse the net, to play those awesome 6-10 year old games (Age of Empires 2, Max Payne, The new Counterstrike probably - guessing), and with decent multitasking - I was surprised at this!! - its perfect.
Or for those just wanting to listen to their MP3's, I'm happier with this than the IPOD I don't have!
