Absolutely Stunning (12 out of 10)Reviewed by Byron Ferreira from East London, South Africa on 08 December 2007 77 of 128 people found the following review helpful: OK - When talking about Blu-ray (By far the best format out there) we all immmediately think of Great Sound and Great Picture - And don't get me wrong, this title is transferred well on to Blu-ray!
When I first received my copy - I couldn'e wait to play it - the reviews for this title are the highest possible!
The Footage is fantastic! The videos of our planet will have you staring in awe at your TV Screen (HD Hopefully) - To see the things I world has to offer is unexplainable! Its Beyond Heavenly!
So far, I would say the episode named "Caves" is amazing - the world under our feet - that most will never expereince is layed out infront of your eyes and undeniably out of this world!
Although - One bad point would be that BBC didn't use the full potential of Blu-ray because of their consent to release this title onto all formats (HD DVD - the main problem causer). So this title is hampered by what little HD DVD has to offer - 5.1 Sound [not PCM:-(] and the transfers to HD Quality Video do have a few artifacts in certain scenes - but hardly noticiable!
My Copy was narrated by David Attenborough which was a large reason to why I purchased it too! The Kalahari.net Copy should be narrated by him, because it is a European Copy - Though the Americans used Sigourney Weaver as the narratoe which Butchered the Quality to less than half!!!
Otherwise - Even with slightly not up to Pirates of the Caribbean BLu-ray Quality and lack of added extras like the DVD format - Planet Earth on Blu-ray Deserves 5 Stars!
When released the Disc set had 4 discs - Maybe this has changed, but I doubt it - the set does not come with the added extra feature disc like the DVD Format!
GREAT!!! IF YOU HAVE A BLU-RAY PLAYER - THIS IS A MUST HAVE! Was this review helpful?
Its Region free and l'm oving itReviewed by Mr Naasief Kajee from Cape Town, South Africa on 04 August 2008 26 of 55 people found the following review helpful: Hi all
This Blu-ray is fantastic in sound and colour and you name it... it has it...
Considering what Blu-rays cost per disc this set is well worth it. (pity the price just went back to normal - but you'd be hard pressed to find it much cheaper now anywayz). Most importantly & best of all it plays in my Region "A" PS3 and is therefore region free.
Happy viewing
