Amazing!Reviewed by Stefan de Jager from Johannesburg on 20 November 2002 223 of 451 people found the following review helpful: This is what the original release should have looked like. The pace of the film is a bit more relaxed (no time constraints) with much more info regarding hobbits etc. And DTS sound! Enough said. Was this review helpful?
Brilliant Stuff - A++Reviewed by Unknown from Cape Town, South Africa on 28 November 2007 45 of 101 people found the following review helpful: This truly is a magnificent piece of movie art - It is so much better than the general release of the film that most saw at cinemas. Once you watch the extended version, you won't want to go back to the original. This is a hefty price for the one extended version, but worth it if you want it. You can however buy all 3 extended versions overseas for about the same price(£29.99) - a worthwhile addition to any dvd collection! Was this review helpful?
ONLY FOR DEDICATED FANSReviewed by Christopher from Cape Town on 24 March 2005 136 of 286 people found the following review helpful: Make no mistake, Lord of the Rings is one of the true masterpieces of film. Just watching snippets of exactly how much effort and creativity went into the film is awe inspiring. That being said, this extended edition DVD is quite expensive which, if your're a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan, won't be an issue. I say expensive but am aware of the fact that there are FOUR dvds PER episode on the extended cut which works out to 12 dvds in total, making the price tag of just under R1400 more understandable. I am HUGE fan of the trilogy - if you can afford it, and if you're really into these films then go for it, you won't be disappointed. If, however, you're a casual movie-goer and you found the films merely "enjoyable" then stick with the cheaper, theatrical release. Was this review helpful?
