A dream come trueReviewed by R.S. from KZN on 10 November 2007 9 of 27 people found the following review helpful: Remember as a child, playing games of imagination where you and your friends are superheroes or heroic adventurers? Well, this is the ultimate realisation of some classic literary heroes joining forces to save the world. Your imagination probably could not have created such detail and depth of characters on it's own, but this movie impresses with the extraordinary cast and effects. The blend is perfectly balanced, and I didn't find any part overshadowing the other. Suspension of disbelief is useful on one or two occasions when technology appears out of context to the time, but considering the characters (particularly Captain Nemo) and their legendary skills, you can take it as a given and enjoy the spectacle. Sean Connery as Alan Quartermain could not be better, and the creatures created to fit the other characters are quite believable in the world that is created. The special features of this DVD set are a must to view as well. Was this review helpful?
