Its a happy evening in the small Welsh town of Pen-y-Wig, as everybody gathers to see beautiful teenager Jenny Thomas win the title of Pen-y-Wig Rosebud Queen. Jenny drives across the hills in her new car but later she runs out of petrol down a dark lane. Its the local vagrant, known affectionately as Tin Man, who offers to go and ring her father for help. Jennys boyfriend Joe and his wayward best mate Glenn have spent the evening taking drugs and dabbling with the darker side of Pen-y-Wig life. As Tin Man wanders along the road, Glenn drives into him.
