Nothing like a good spud... This South African movie is based on an inspiring true story. A white farmer, of Scottish descent, grew weary of conditions in Zambia, and decided to migrate down to South Africa. He set up a farm in KwaZulu-Natal. Starting with almost nothing, he struggled desperately to survive, until a personal encounter with God changed his life and fortune.

Awesome - Just AwesomeReviewed by Ed Robinson on 24 December 2006 487 of 906 people found the following review helpful: This movie lends it's success to the story - it is nothing short of inspirational. In my opinion, it is probably the best movie to come from SA ever, but see for yourself... I don't believe the was a dry eye in the cinema. This movie is for religious and non religious people - please do yourself a favour and buy this even if just to see what all the fuss is about. I have never seen a movie sold out at the theater for so long. See the website: www.faithlikepotatoes.com
I understand the first batch of CDs ordered by the producers were sold out before they arrived and they had to order another 50 000 which have also been sold. Frank Rautenbach (ex Sewende Laan's Tiaan Terblanche) is absolutely brilliant in this movie as is Hamilton Dhlamini and Jeanne Wilhelm. Visit the site and see the other viewer comments... call me biased, but do it after watching the movie! :) Was this review helpful?
Ignite your faith!Reviewed by Miss Debrah Cogill from Cape Town, South Africa on 22 March 2007 330 of 626 people found the following review helpful: Watched the DVD last night and was totally enthralled by this man's life story. The film has truly ignited my faith in God. Hats off to the entire cast and production team - this movie is world-class, the scenery beautiful, in fact, it makes you so proud to be South African! This film puts life in South Africa in a different perspective, if we could all have the faith that Angus Buchan demonstrates ... it's possible for one person to make a difference in his/her own community. Buy the DVD! I'm about to purchase mine and one for my sister! Was this review helpful?
Faith Like Potatoes is FantasticReviewed by Mr Robert Lourens from Port Elizabeth on 08 May 2007 220 of 450 people found the following review helpful: This is the story of faith. Of a man that decided to stay in South Africa and make it work. It is the story of how different people of different backgrounds can have the same vision and even though they did not agree on many things they got the job done. Buchan is an amazing man with his amazing wife and the film does him justice. The actors do the film and the story justice with their compassionate interpretations. This is a story of Africa, of hope, of achievement, of love, of difficulty and overcoming. I agree that this is one of the best movies to come out of Africa in a long time and I salute the team to a job excellently done. Whoever you are - you will love this movie. You just won't be able to help yourself as you fall under the spell of a brilliant cast, a fantastic and amazing true story and cinematic genius. Was this review helpful?

life changingReviewed by Mrs Edith Heyns from Fourways United Church Gauteng on 22 March 2007 172 of 372 people found the following review helpful: This movie will change your life - if you have always hummed and aahed about giving your life to God and accept Jesus as your personal saviour, this movie may just be the catalyst to let you do just that. Great scenery, fab acting and the fact that it is a true story makes it more worthwhile. Watch Angus Buchan on channel 77 on a Saturday morning around 07:00 or 07:30 Was this review helpful?
