Oliver Stone's Alexander is based on the true story of one of history's most luminous and influential leaders, Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) - a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27. Oliver Stone's Alexander is based on the true story of one of history's most luminous and influential leaders, Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) - a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 27. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek and Macedonian armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32 had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen. The film chronicles Alexander's path to becoming a living legend, from a youth fueled by dreams of myth, glory and adventure to his lonely death as a ruler of a vast Empire. Alexander is the incredible story of a life that united the known world and proved, if nothing else, fortune favours the bold.

An epic of medium porportions...Reviewed by Monkeyreviewerman from the Hollywood Jungle on 01 June 2005 128 of 279 people found the following review helpful: First off - The film's length was really just too long. Truly. The events that take place are made all the more boring because of this. And if you've checked what area he actually conquered, you'd realise it was about the size of Alaska - large, but saying it was the "known world" was overstating things. I have no qualms against Oliver Stone (director), but this movie didn't make me awe in respect of Alexander the Great's "huge" accomplishments. If this film was an accurate account of his life, he should be called Alexander the OK. Was this review helpful?
