Tsonga is the home language of almost 2 million people in South Africa and is mostly spoken in Limpopo, as well as in Gauteng. The pioneer translators of the Bible into Tsonga were Paul Berthoud, his brother Henri and E Creux. The first complete Bible was published in 1907 and was revised in 1929. This form-based translation is still in use today. The latest translation of the Bible was completed in 1989 and is a thought for thought translation.
