I am a South African Canadian and my Kook en Geniet I received as a weding present 30 years ago is still one of my most used items. When my daughter got married, all she wanted was her own copy of Kook en Geniet and I am happy to order the new edition for her (and a new one for myself too!) Just wish I could get an English version for my Canadian daughter-in-law and my Canadian son-in-law. Yes, my son-in-law is an excellent cook and would surely appreciate an English version. Thank you for this wonderful cook book.

Ek het grootgeword met geregte wat my ma uit die Kook en Geniet gemaak het. Toe sy oorlede is, was dit die enigste ding wat ek MOES he van haar - dit was amper soos haar bybel. ;) Ek bly nou in Engeland, en ek gee nog steeds vir my broer en vriende resepte uit die boek, almal is altyd MAL daaroor! (En hier is nou maar net nie sulke lekker kos hier soos boerekos nie!) Ek gaan vir my 'n nuwe een koop, maar my ma s'n wat so baie karakter het van gebruik, sal altyd kosbaar en na aan my hart wees, en SA kos vir my verteenwoordig. HEERLIK!!!

Im I the only South African that thinks this is a BAD cookbook. Nothing I've ever made from the Kook & Geniet was ever to my liking. My grandmother's handwritten recipes are BY FAR SJA De Villiers did a direct translation of Mrs Beetons. The book is too scientific, no love for food can be detected ANYWHERE in the book. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR YOUR CHILDREN! You will put them off cooking for all eternity.
